Una Jagose is DeputySolicitor—General and also acting Director of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) which rose to infamy in the wake of the raid on Kim Dotcom’s mansion in Albany.
Ms Jagose’s appointment follows the surprise resignation of Ian Fletcher in February 2015, to take over the operations of the GCSB follow some controversy and also suggestions that the agency will likely receive greater powers from the Government following the announcement of its review of intelligence legislation, although in announcing the review Attorney General Chris Finlayson QC stated that such agencies “that has great powers must necessarily be properly supervised by Parliament”.
Ms Jagose has a significant record of delivering results. Appointed Deputy Solicitor General, Crown Legal Risk in 2013 she joined the Crown Law Office from the Ministry of Fisheries where she had served as Legal Advisor.
